Chalk and Bubbles

On Wednesday we got to play with chalk outside and Noelani brought some bubbles for the kids. What a fun day!

 Love what Carmen wrote!

Watermelon!

I can’t believe this is the last week of school! This year has gone by so quickly (maybe because I took 3 months off. :) )
Last week we learned about watermelon and did watermelon centers on Friday. We also got to have watermelon for a snack! Before we cut into them, we compared them by size and weight, and described what they looked like, tasted like, sounded like, etc.
I hope you have enough room in your garden for the two things we planted as a class and the watermelon we planted during centers! Some of you are lucky that your child chose to plant two flowers and a watermelon, some planted a pumpkin, zucchini and watermelon!

This weekend my grandpa passed away and his funeral will be on Thursday. Mrs. Langfoss stepped up to the challenge of subbing for kindergarten on the second to last day of school!

The last day of school is only a half day. Lunch will not be served that day! The students will be dismissed at 11:20.

Brylie celebrated her 6th birthday last week. She was lucky enough to have her mom and grandma come and have lunch with her!

We also got to have lunch outside one day last week, too! It was a perfect day!

Ezmae's mom happened to be dropping something off at school so she stopped by to say hi. I loved that they were matching!
Don't tell Mrs. Bast, but in one of our balloons we got to have gum in school!
These were the only three that could blow a bubble. Riley, Chelsey (I think! The bubble is as big as her face), and Ezmae.

Then I brought out some balloons to see if they were any easier to blow up. I accidentally got the small ones so they were really hard to blow up. They tried so hard!

The watermelon was fantastic! I am glad we ate it outside, you should have seen the puddles of juice under the kids!

Planting Seeds

This week we are finished up learning about gardens by planting seeds. The kids could each chose 2 seeds to plant. They could chose from pumpkins, zuccini, sweet basil, lettuce, sunflowers, zinnias and marigolds. The dirt we used were little "pucks, so they first had to measure 3 oz of water and let the dirt expand. Since we don't have a real window in our room, we are using the heat lamp from the chicks until they begin to sprout and are able to be sent home. (That is another issue! How will they get home safely!:))

We are starting to count down the days to the end of the year! On day 10 we got to switch seats and sit anywhere in the room, 9 was shoes off in the classroom and day 8 is PJ day! (I didn't even plan this way, but I am so glad it is on a Monday!)
In math we are learning about length and weight. I chose two names and they each had to chose 1 thing and we had to guess which was heavier or lighter.

We also lined up from tallest to shortest. The kids had so much fun with this!

Ava was the tallest and Noelani is the shortest. Can you even tell that the entire class is behind Ava? And can you see the kids getting taller behind Noelani?
