Ocean!

I realized I didn't take many pictures this week! It was such a busy week for me because we had to finish everything for the slide show... especially the binders and the picture frames. Then on top of it I had a few things to for myself for school! Now that all of that is behind us, there isn't much time left! Only 9 days!
We had so much fun learning about ocean animals today. I think this is my other favorite theme to teach (my other being penguins)! On Monday we learned about crabs, Tuesday and Wednesday were whales, Thursday was sharks, and today we learned about dolphins. I bet every student can tell you what the dorsal and pectoral fins are used for and they better be able to tell you what way a shark's tale moves versus a whale and dolphin's!  Above our coat hooks we have crabs, sharks and whales- we were busy this week!
Today during math I show them a "magic trick." I had a student pick a card and then I figured out which card was in their hand. They didn't know at first that I was actually matching the cards with their number partner (of 10) to figure out which was missing. They had so much fun playing it with a partner that I don't think they remembered it was math!
I hope you enjoyed the slide show! That night is the best night of kindergarten! The room was pretty full, so I apologize if I didn't see you there! I was very glad that everyone came, it sure is a special night for them.
Summer school information should be coming soon! I think they are starting to finalize the classes that will be offered and you will get a form soon.
Next week- The field trip to the ZOO!
