Bugs!

This week we learned about bugs! We learned that insects have 6 legs, 3 body parts, and some have wings.
We got to switch room and learn about a new bug each day. I hope your child told you things they learned about the dragonfly, firefly, ant, and ladybug.
We made symmetrical butterflies. We painted only one side and then smashed them together! They turned out awesome!

Since we didn't have a special on Friday morning, we finally had time to water color our names!

More and More Apples!

This week we learned more about apples! We even made apple sauce on Thursday. The room smelled so good!
We did an apple project that I was a little "iffy" about on Thursday. I thought some kids would be able to make them, but some might have a little trouble and it might get a little crazy when so many needed help... boy was I wrong! There were some that did have trouble, but they were so patient! I even told them how proud of them I was! Then one student said, "No, Mrs. Nelson, I am proud of you for being such a great teacher." :)

This guy got a GOLDEN ZERO on Wednesday! The kids were so excited!

We used an apple peeler that peeled AND cut the apples! The kids thought it was so cool because it cut them like a slinky!

 The LONG peel!

He's my kind of guy! Eating while he is cooking! :)

Tasting the applesauce.

 They loved the apple sauce!
For my center we found out what the "little red house with no windows and no doors and a star inside" was! It was an apple! Then we used apples to stamp with.

WHAT A MESS! After having 60 kindergartners paint on our tables, we had a huge mess to clean... the tables, pencils, chairs, sinks, soap dispensers, light switches... it didn't take long will all this help! I forgot and wore white pants today! I was so close and made it right up to the last 10 seconds before I got paint on them. Good thing I have a washing machine. :)
The tables were still full of pictures with wet paint, so we decided to math on the carpet. They loved it!
Mrs. Mayne has an apple press and brought it to school.

The kids loved drinking the apple cider that they helped make!

On Friday we did apple centers and they got to go with all 4 teachers! Ask your child what they did with each teacher!
