Yeehaw and Dads to Lunch

Looking all the way back to the week before spring break...

We had a great turn out for dads to lunch! Thanks to all the dads (and other family members) that were able to join us.

Colton was lucky enough to have dad join him for his birthday lunch!

On Thursday, we had our Rodeo. The kindergartners got to participate in many "Rodeo" activities. They rode bucking broncos (exercise balls), competed in horse riding barrel races (on stick ponies), animal tying races (with stuffed animals), cactus toss (with cones), and a toss game with cowboy boots. Phew! It was a thrilling event for all!

Pet Store

Our reading series this week was all about learning how to care for pets. I thought that opening a pet store in our classroom would be a great way to explore all of the responsibilities that come along with having and caring for a pet. The students took on many roles this week including: customer, groomer, cashier, pet care worker, and animal trainer. They even helped get the store set up by making signs and organizing materials. They took their responsibilities very seriously and we had a great time learning about and exploring pet care this week.

A few hip hip hoorahs are in  order for a few of our outstanding classmates.
Ava was awarded the Trustworthy award at our PBIS assembly for being the most trustworthy in our class. She is a True Blue Friend each and every day!
William got to eat lunch at the golden lunch table because he was "caught doing good." He picked garbage up on our playground without even being asked. 3 cheers for both of these Owls!

Read Across America Week

The kindergartners participated in many exciting events for Dr. Seuss, Read Across America Week. We read over 10 Dr. Seuss books throughout the week, dressed in crazy outfits, pajamas, hats and hairdos, had a visit from Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2, made 'twin' plates, designed a new hat for the Cat in the Hat, decorated our door and voted for the best door decoration around our school, and finished off a great week by watching Dr. Seuss's The Lorax. Phew! It was a crazy busy, jam packed week full of rhyming!
