This week we learned about penguins! We learned that there are penguins that live in the cold and penguins that live where it is warm! When penguins are first born they do not have feathers. The kids think a newborn penguin looks kind of creepy!
After they are a few months old, they get adult feathers that are waterproof so they can swim in the water.
When it is really cold, penguins like to huddle together. Then when the penguins on the inside get too warm, those penguins go to the outside of the circle. We practiced this in the room.
We did an experiment to see how penguins (and other arctic animals) can swim in such cold water! We first put our bare hands in some cold water. It was cold!
We took a quick field trip to the South Pole on Tuesday. :) We got to see if we were shorter or taller than the Emperor Penguin!
We are really focusing on the teen numbers and math partners in math.
Ruby got her birthday wish and got a snow day on her birthday! We celebrated her 6th birthday on Thursday instead. Happy birthday, Ruby!
Playtime :)
We got to sled a little this week!
If you have any clean gallon jugs, please send them my way!
Make up day- We will be having school on February 24th to make up an ice day. It will be Day D and we will have PE and Art.
If you ever would like to come a little early to pick up your child, you are more than welcome to stop in for playtime at 2:50 until the end of day! We love having more adults in the room to help us play Monopoly or Chutes and Ladders! Isaiah's mom came to play with us today!
We met our goal of 10 more Panther Paws! We voted and we will have HAT DAY on Wednesday, February 1st. Each student is able to wear any kind of hat that day! (Please remind them that they cannot share their hats with anyone!)
