Ho! Ho! Ho!

Sorry for all the posts lately, but we sure have a lot going on at this time!

We celebrated Stevie's Birthday this week and her grandpa surprised her for lunch!
Chelsey's mom came to have lunch for her birthday this week with her, too!
We had a lot of Santas in our room last week! I thought you might like an extra copy of this picture to share. :) These are always my favorite pictures!

Toy Drive

TOYS!!
Need a little extra under the tree this year? Through the generosity of our community we had a successful toy drive! If you need a little help making your Christmas merry this year and would like to come “shop” through the toy drive please call Angela Belken at 943-6313 ext 1015. We will have the toys available to go through on Monday, December 21st from 4-6. If you are unable to come during those hours please contact Angela to see about an alternative time to come in. Please call so we know you are coming and can distribute the toys appropriately. The majority of the toys are for children between the ages of newborn and 8 years old.

Amazon Shoppers

Attention Amazon Shoppers!
If you shop on amazon.com, please consider adding the Iowa-Grant School District to your account. A percentage of every purchase goes to the school. I think that every time that you order, you have to log in to smile.amazon.com to check out. (I use amazon a lot and I just use my app to add things to my cart, and then go to the website to checkout, just to make sure it goes towards the school!)
Please pass the word and the link

Another Week of Christmas Fun!

We made "peeking reindeer" this week.

We hung them up in the window (double sided) so the students walking past in the hall could enjoy them, too! It is reminding them that Santa (and his reindeer and elves) are watching, too!
A few of our hand print reindeer.
Riley joined the "I Can Tie My Shoe" club! Way to go!
We made 'snip trees' by cutting out 3 triangles and snipping the bottom edges to look like pine needles. Then we put them together and decorated them with sequins and other fun crafty things.

Chelsey had a birthday last week! Happy 6th Birthday, Chelsey!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (in the classroom anyway!)

This week, and for the next few weeks, we are learning about Christmas. We have been able to sneak in a few projects that we are making for you, but also some fun Christmas themed projects, too.
On Friday, our buddies helped us write a letter to Santa! Our buddies asked us some questions, and they will take that information and put it into a letter and we will even get to mail it to him later this week!
Our Santa came in pieces, so we had to color him and put him back together!

Here the kids are partner reading with one of our stories of the week. They do so well taking turns and helping each other if they ever need it!

During reading we are practicing sounding out words with whiteboards. They are doing so well and love working on the boards!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We took a break from our reading series since we had a such a short week. We were able to sneak a few extra projects and read a few extra books at this time. We learned a lot about what the pilgrims and Native Americans wore, ate, where they lived, etc. We noticed it was very different from us! We also had a Ping-Pong Ball activity from our special area teachers for great behavior on Monday and had RIF on Tuesday with our Reading Teachers!
Making our pilgrim hats.

After we used our tiles with our math trays to make our number partners, we decided to use ourselves! In this picture we were showing 3+3=6 (the pink yard stick separates the group.)
The Kindergartners were pilgrims and rode on the Mayflower to America! We learned about how the boat was very crowded and the pilgrims got sea sick and had to go through storms to get here!

This is how some of the pilgrims had to sleep because it was so crowded- back to back!

After 66 days we finally landed in America! The pilgrims were brought from the ship to the shore by boat.

As soon as they got on to the land, they had to build a homestead!

Singing "When I First Came to This Land"

We ate our lunch in the classroom on Wednesday just like a feast! We opened the doors to all the Kindergarten rooms and then shut off the lights. The kids thought this was so cool!

(Sorry for the late posts... my girls have been sick lately and I seem to not have any extra time!)
