Happy Mother's Day!

We had another busy week in Kindergarten! We spent a lot of time finishing up our binders, making our silhouettes, sunflowers, Mother’s Day gifts, etc. We are now finished with our reading series, and so close to finishing our math! This is my favorite time of the year since we have a lot of extra time for the fun things!
Thank to all of you that came to the slide show last night! It was great to see all the fun we had this year, but it also means that the year is coming to an end! The best quote about last night was “There weren’t any pictures of any slides!” :)- Noah

We were able to put the slideshow on youtube, but since we used songs that weren’t “free,” we weren’t able to post the original video. Instead of the 20 minute video, it goes much faster and is only 4 minutes. We thought this version was better than nothing!

The chicks also left on Tuesday. It is such a fun unit, but we are always ready for them to go to their new home, too!

We are learning about height, width and weight in math right now.  The kids had to line up from tallest to shortest... without talking! They did great!

 Look at these straight lines!
The kids had fun weighing things with the balance scale.

Dress Beachy!

Friday, May 18th will be an all school celebration. We will have a beach bash!  Students are invited to dress beachy!

CHICKS!

What a week! We have been patiently waiting for our chicks to hatch on day 21 (Tuesday). All 3 of the other classes were having chicks, but not ours! I was afraid this was a year that we wouldn’t have any. SHH, don’t tell the kids, but on Wednesday, Ms. Fensterman graciously let us have one of her new chicks to pretend that one of our eggs hatched. The kids were thrilled! But then on Thursday, a miracle happened! We had a crack! We ended up getting our very own chick! And then another, and then another! I don’t know why our eggs were so behind, but they have been worth the wait! We even got to watch 2 of them hatch! As Corbin wrote on his paper “It was disgusting, but cool!” Check Seesaw for one of the videos! We still have 2 more eggs with cracks in them!
This week has been such a crazy week with chicks, projects, getting ready for the slideshow, but it is one week they will never forget!

We had lunch outside! It turned out to be a beautiful day!

Earth Day and Arbor Day!

Wednesday we went out with our 4th Grade Buddies and picked up trash from around the school. It is always such a great lesson for the kids because hopefully they second guess themselves the next time they throw some trash on the ground.
(I didn't get too many pictures because I was busy picking trash up myself!)

We walked over to the high school to help plan 4 new trees! The kids loved helping! First they listened to the book the Lorax, and then they helped put the dirt back in the hole. The kids loved finding all the worms in the dirt! It is so nice that the kids will be able to watch these trees grow each year!

The eggs are expected to hatch on Tuesday! We are getting so excited!

Please send an 8X10 or certificate frame to school ASAP! Thanks!
