Bubbles and Apples

We have had our first full week in kindergarten! We are continuing to work on routines and rules. We ran out of time last week to do everything I wanted to do with bubbles, so that is what we did on Monday. Mrs. Bindl’s 1st hour science class came over in the morning with 3 different kinds of bubble solution for us to test out! One was dish soap and water, one was glycerin, soap and water, and the other was corn syrup, dish soap and water. We had a great time testing out which was the best!
I hope no one told you the other bubble thing we did because I told them we were breaking a school rule and to not tell ANYONE! :) We chewed bubble gum and tried to blow bubbles in the classroom! Only a few could do it, but it was sure fun trying!
The rest of the week have been learning about apples! I hope they can tell you about what color they can be, what they need in order to grow, and a few things about what you can make with apples!
Next Thursday we will be making applesauce in the classroom! Please send 2 or 3 apples (or more!) to school by Wednesday. (I need them by Wednesday so I know if I will need to buy some extra for Thursday.)

Math- We are starting to add and subtract already! Today I sent home a sheet from our math book of numbers and squares. Since we have our own foam pieces to work with at school, these are yours to practice at home with! Your child can show you what we have been working on at school! (These are not homework, so use them if you would like!)
Reading- We have a new sight word this week- CAN! So far we have learned I and can. Remember to listen to your child read their book, sign the back and return to school!

Calendar time! We love to play the dice game!

We read the book "Ten Apples Up on Top" on Thursday. We didn't think we could balance 10 apples, so we only tried one. :)

Remember to send a snack everyday with your child!

Seesaw App- There are still a few that have not signed up yet. Please let me know if you need me to resend the information for you. I know I will be using it more when things calm down a little more! I hope you have been enjoying the pictures that I have put on there so far!

First Week!

What a great first week we have had in Kindergarten! I already know this is going to be a great group! We are doing a great job figuring out the rules and getting to know our routine. We have also been learning about bubbles and respect!

I bet you have already heard about "Brain Breaks!" These are videos, songs, and activities that we do when we need to get a few wiggles out! Some are dancing to Kids Bop songs,  and some are just sill songs we can sing to!

We already started reading on the second day of school! Our first sight word was I.  If your child hasn't done his/ her homework already, please remember to have them read their paper book a few times, sign the back and return it back to school! These are pictures of them reading their books to a partner!

 This was my partner. :)

Playtime and free time!

I "accidentally" spilled bubble solution all over the table! Instead of wasting it, we used straws and blew bubbles on the tables.  We learned that if you touched a bubble with solution on your finger, it wouldn't pop! You can also blow another bubble inside another bubble!

These kids could all blow up their balloons! Great job!

While doing calendar yesterday I pointed out that the weekend was coming soon. Almost all of the kids said “Aww, but we want school!” Corbin even said, “I’ll miss you, though!” I can already feel the love and it is only the first week!

Remember to send a snack everyday with your child!
