This week we learned more about pumpkins, Halloween and harvest. We did a few projects throughout the week, but Friday was our best day! Not only did we dress up (some in their costumes and some as scarecrows), we also made our Harvest Mix from all the secret ingredients we brought in our paper bags. Plus, the kids got to watch our teacher skit of The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid Of Anything.
Each class got a pumpkin to decorate. We chose to make ours look like the Pigeon from the book Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late. The students could help decorate it if they wanted to during our free time. They must have done an amazing job because ours won for the story book category!
We each got some orange, black and white paper to decorate a pumpkin however we wanted to! Some made scary faces, some silly, some happy... They turned out great. I wish I would have taken a picture of them in the hall before I sent them home!
Carmen celebrated her birthday this week! Happy birthday, Carmen!
These are pictures from out centers for this week.
We sorted which letters were in our names and which were not.
We had to match the picture with each student and write their names. We are doing great at being able to recognize everyone's names!
Any word they found around the room they could write it!
We also had a center with iPads where we practiced spelling 3 letter words.
Math trays!
Our costumes on Friday!
We had some teammates and doubles!
The teachers performed the skit down in front of the office. The kids loved it!
Our Harvest Mix!
The Scarecrow! He is now in front of Mrs. Otte's and Ms. Fenstermann's doors... I haven't gotten used it him being there yet! Not fun when everyone is gone and the lights are off in the hall after school! :)
