Snowmen

January is the time to celebrate half birthdays!
Noelani celebrated her half birthday on Tuesday! Happy half-birthday, Noelani!
Bently is so lucky to be able to share a birthday with someone in our class! Me! :) He got to celebrate his half birthday on Friday! Happy half birthday, Bently!
This week was Aunts to Lunch! We had a lot of aunts come and eat lunch with us. (And I even got the chance to be an aunt and eat lunch with my niece Cadence on Monday!)

We made melted snowmen on Friday! I know there is no way a snowman would melt right now, but I wanted to do this project before I left.
First we finished the sentence "My snowman melted because...". Then we painted a big blob with glue and shaving cream and added our snowman pieces. They turned out so cute!

We also made these cute snowmen! They sure brighten up the hall! Ezmae told me that I look like them because my "belly is kinda big and I had a white shirt on." :)

Donation to the Playground Fund

With the profit we made from our class shirts and totes, we were able to donate $401 to the playground fund! (I know some of you know this already because you have the same experience, but a lot of the playground equipment is the same equipment that I used when the school opened in 1992 when I was in 3rd grade!) One of the biggest reasons we need a new playground is because when things break, the parts are starting to be no longer available to fix it!
Thank you families!

Bears

This week we learned about bears. We compared what they eat, what color they are, their size, where they live, and so much more! We also focused on getting along, sharing, and working together. To do this we played a lot of new games during our free time! The kids did awesome! Some of the games we played were Candy Land, Old Maid, Uno, Math Games (War, but we call it "High-Low"), Spot It and Hi Ho Cherry-o. The kids are very patient when helping a friend learn how to play!
We also learned about a new character trait at our monthly PBIS assembly. This month we are focusing on Caring and Kindness.

Our t-shirts!

On Friday we made polar bear pictures using chalk. We remembered that polar bears are the biggest of the bears, but they also have the smallest ears and eyes. We got a little messy, but they turned out so cute!

I have had a few parents ask about my "ugly sweater" I wore before Christmas. Luckily Leah, my 5 year old, wanted to take a picture of my shirt that day. :) My belly is a lot bigger by now!

Caroling and Santa

We went caroling on Tuesday around the school. We sang Jingle Bells, We Wish You A Merry Christmas and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. We sure made a lot of people smile!

Playing with their new dice. They could have spent all day playing the dice game if I let them! And they were so quiet! (Except for the few cheers when they would get a 0.)

Santa and his elf came to school on Monday during lunch! Wow, the kids were excited!
