This week our big question was "What shapes do you see around you?" Our vocabulary words were materials, nature, decoration, nature, games, and world. Our new sight word is like, and we focused on the letter T.
Playtime fun!
:)
Happy 6th birthday, Jonah!
We used a paper with 5 rows of 10 to count the seeds. There were so many!
When we finally finished counting the seed, we found out that we had a total of 2,748 seeds from 4 pumpkins! We counted the lines on the outside of the pumpkins and 3 had 20 lines and pumpkin #3 had 23. I have heard the more lines, the more seeds. That theory did not work out this time!
#1 had 709
#2 had 623
#3 had 694
#4 had 722
Owen was the Master Counter. When most kids gave up, he kept going strong! He counted over 1000 seeds! Dylan, Isaiah, Morgan, and Oliver were also top counters!
I took the seeds home with me and baked them. I made 3 different kinds for the kids to try. We voted at the end and the Ranch and Cinnamon kind tied for their favorite. Spicy only had 2 votes, and one student did not try any of them.
Wyatt, our high school helper, was doing card tricks for the kids!
The kids love to play with paper airplanes. I had them write our sight words and I stapled them to the wall. Before they throw their plane, they need to read the word they are aiming for, then they have to read the word they were closest to!
Remember that the kids can wear their costumes OR dress up like scarecrows on OCTOBER 31st. If you think your child might feel a little uncomfortable during the day, please send an extra change of clothes (or have some on underneath.) We are starting right away in the morning with costumes, so please have your child ready when they get to school!
Student Council will be babysitting in the cafeteria on both nights of conferences, and so will the book fair in Room 100. Make sure to pick up your Little Caesar's Pizza order on November 3rd in the gym.
Remember to email me a picture of your jack-o-lanterns if you would like!
