We had a wonderful week learning about pumpkins and reading Halloween books! The kids had 2 subs this week, one so I could test kids on their letters/ sounds and beginning reading skills, and another on Friday morning so I could go to an appointment. Both subs said they were a great class to have! I am a very proud teacher!
In math we are learning that each hand has 5 fingers and that we don't have to count each finger every time, we can count 5, 6, 7. (We call it the "fast five"). We each traced our hands to show the number sentence written on the bottom of the paper.
Our big question this week was "How do tools help us explore?" We learned that tools are all around us! Pencils, forks, trays, computers, hammers, magnifying glasses, etc. We also added a new sight word! A! Keep practicing our other ones- I, can, the, we, see.
It definitely does not still look like this! :)
On Thursday we had an assembly with Matt Wilhelm. He is a BMX Champion and came to talk about anti-bullying. He has broken 6 bones, but none of those hurt as bad as when people made fun of the way he looked when he was yonger. He reminded us that it just takes one person to step up and defend someone. He also told us to NEVER GIVE UP! He did some pretty amazing tricks! And so did 2 students! Oliver's brother was one of them!
"The Spiderman"
We had some pretty brave teachers be a part of one of the tricks!
Remember that the kids can wear their costumes OR dress up like scarecrows on October 31st. If you think your child might feel a little uncomfortable during the day, please send an extra change of clothes (or have some on underneath.)
Please send your SECRET Harvest ingredient if you haven't done so already! Thanks!
Remember to schedule your child’s conferences. If you do not have internet access, please call the office to schedule your conference. Student Council will be babysitting in the Cafeteria on both nights of conferences.
